GeneralMonobenzone, the active ingredient in Benoquin Cream, is a topically-applied medication used for the depigmentation of skin. It’s most commonly used to treat Vitiligo, a skin condition in which pale spots and regions occur as a result of melanocyte insufficiency. Medical UsesThe cream works by lowering the levels of melanin, to lighten skin and promote a uniform coloration. It is not applicable to the treatment of hyper-pigmentation occurring as a result of diverse pigments. Dose and ApplicationSuffers of Vitiligo are instructed to apply a light covering of Benoquin Cream to all relevant skin areas. This should be repeated twice or three times daily or as per a doctor’s recommendation. Obvious results should become apparent after one to four months of continued use. If no results are observed after four months, it’s likely that your doctor will end the treatment.Adverse EffectsThe most frequently encountered adverse effects are minor and include irritation, redness or itching of the skin. If such effects are lasting or bothersome, request your doctor’s opinion.WarningsMonobenzone will heighten the vulnerability of skin to ultraviolet (UV) rays from the sun. Stay out of the sun and avoid any kind of UV tanning lamps during the course of treatment. Allow some time to elapse after treatment before contact with UV rays. If you can’t avoid sunlight, employ a strong sunscreen and wear protective clothing. Benoquin Cream should never be used for cosmetic purposes, such as skin lightening for beauty reasons.
